Just as we guide our children toward polite behavior in shared public spaces, puppies also benefit immensely from learning social skills and appropriate conduct.

Teaching Good Puppy Manners is an essential investment in fostering a well-rounded canine companion.   It also ensures that your puppy understands basic commands like sit, stay, and come.  These commands are tools for ensuring your puppy’s safety by teaching your puppy to listen to you & obey commands.

Just like humans, dogs thrive on a sense of accomplishment. When your puppy masters good manners, they gain confidence in their abilities. A well-behaved pup is more likely to feel secure and relaxed in various situations, reducing the likelihood of anxiety or fear-based reactions.

A puppy with good manners is welcomed in more places and situations. Whether you’re enjoying outdoor dining at a dog-friendly cafe or planning a family picnic, a well-behaved pup can join in the fun without causing disruptions or inconveniences. This inclusion enriches both your and your puppy’s life experiences.

Some of the exercises that I work with my puppy is teaching him to walk on a loose leash at my side unless I give him permission to be on a longer leash to sniff or urinate etc.   I teach my puppies not to approach other dogs or people without permission from me and to greet people in a calm manner with 4 paws on the ground.

Puppyhood is a fleeting phase, but the lessons learned during this time can shape your dog’s behavior for a lifetime. By teaching good manners early on, you’re setting the stage for a well-rounded, well-behaved adult dog. These foundational behaviors make it easier to tackle more advanced training and ensure your dog remains a joy to have around as they mature.
